General Continuing Education Information
South Carolina law requires doctors of chiropractic to obtain 36 hours of continuing education every two years. The current cycle ends September 30, 2010. Of the 36 required hours of continuing education, two hours are required in rules and regulations of the SC Board of Chiropractic Examiners and two hours in risk management which includes, but is not limited to, boundary or public health issues. Please note, while the State Law requires 36 hours of continuing education credits, the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners is not enforcing the 36 hours during the 2008 - 2010 renewal cycle. Only 24 hours of CE will be required through September 30, 2010.

SCCA Courses and Convention
The SCCA strives to bring quality continuing education to the doctors of South Carolina. The SCCA Annual Convention gives you the opportunity to receive up to 28 hours of CE, as well as all 4 of the required State Board hours. CA`s may also obtain their 12 hours of CE required for their radiography re-certification.

Chiropractic Radiography Assistant Online Course
Chiropractic Assistants may now take the Radiography Certification course online through York Technical College. To register, CLICK HERE to go to York Technical College`s Website and click onto the “Chiropractic Radiography Assistant” Link on the right side of the page. Registration should be sent to York Tech following the instructions listed.
Once you have completed this required 48-hour online course, you still must contact the SCCA Office
at 803-772-9376 to enroll for the Certification Exam. Exams will be given several times a year when the minimum number of applicants is met, and cost is $90.
The ACRRT also publishes a study guide to prepare for the exam. Cost is $75 plus $5 shipping and handling. To order the study guide, call the SCCA Office at 803-772-9376.
Unfortunately, this online course and the SCCA’s classroom X-ray certification course cannot be interchanged. Once you register for either class, it must be completed in the original registered format to receive credit. For example, if you register for the classroom version and miss a module, the module cannot be “made up” online. Also, you cannot take individual modules of this online course. It must be taken in its entirety.
